This notice explains what data OutaStory GmbH processes when you simply visit and browse our public website without signing in. It is one of three role-specific privacy notices, so you always read the one that applies to you.
Who this notice covers
It covers anonymous visitors browsing the public site — story previews, the discover pages, and our public information pages. If you create an account or publish your own stories, separate notices apply: the Member Privacy Notice or the Writer Privacy Notice.
Who is responsible
The data controller is OutaStory GmbH. Our full company details and the contact address for data-protection requests are in the legal notice (Impressum).
What we collect when you visit
When you load a page, our servers automatically record technical data needed to deliver the site and keep it secure: your IP address (stored only in salted, hashed form by default), the pages requested, timestamps, the referrer, and basic device and browser information. We do not need an account or any input from you to show public content.
Cookies and consent
Only strictly necessary cookies are set without your consent. Analytics, session-replay and advertising cookies are default-denied and load only after you grant the matching category in our cookie banner. You can change or withdraw your choices at any time.
Analytics
If you consent, we use privacy-friendly first-party analytics to understand how the site is used. IP addresses are stored hashed (no raw IP) by default, and analytics records are kept for at most 14 months before automatic deletion.
Third parties and hosting
The site is hosted on Microsoft Azure (EU regions). Consent-gated analytics and advertising partners only receive data after you opt in. Error and performance monitoring runs on a legitimate-interest basis without advertising identifiers. A full, current list of processors is in the comprehensive privacy policy.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise them, contact us using the details in the legal notice.
