This notice explains what data OutaStory GmbH processes when you publish stories as a writer. It builds on the member notice and adds what is specific to authoring, AI processing and payouts. It is one of three role-specific privacy notices.
Who this notice covers
It covers writers who publish on OutaStory. Everything about your reader account is in the Member Privacy Notice.
Author profile and public data
Your author profile — display name, biography, avatar, languages and any links you add — is shown publicly on your author page alongside the stories you publish. You choose what to include beyond the required display name and bio.
The stories you submit
We process the text, titles, chapters, tags and cover choices you create so we can store, format and publish your stories. Drafts are private to you until you publish them.
AI processing of your content
If you use our generation features, your story text is sent to Azure OpenAI and Azure Speech (EU regions) to produce cover images, descriptions and audio narration. We do not use your content to train third-party models. More on how AI is used is in our AI guidelines.
Revenue share and tax data
If you join revenue share, we process payout and tax information through Stripe Connect and, where the law requires, report it to the tax authorities. Statutory tax records are kept for the legally mandated period (up to 10 years). Details are in the revenue-share policy.
Moderation and abuse prevention
To protect the community and meet our legal duties, we record the IP address and a timestamp when you accept the writer terms, and we keep moderation records for reports and enforcement. This abuse-prevention data is kept on a legitimate-interest basis for up to 12 months.
Retention and deletion
Published works and the records tied to them are kept while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal data, except records we must keep for statutory tax or legal reasons.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Note that statutory retention may limit erasure of tax-relevant records.
