How the 55/45 revenue share works

How the 55/45 split, the Premium-minute weighting and the payout cycle are planned to work.

Updated Aug 20, 2026

Revenue share is not live yet. No money is being distributed to
authors today, and no start date has been announced. This article
describes how it will work, so you can decide now whether it changes
anything about how you publish. The full policy is at
/legal/revenue-share.

The split

Authors will receive 55 % of net revenue generated by their stories.
The platform will retain 45 %. Net means: the gross amount paid by
the advertiser or subscriber, minus payment processing fees, minus VAT
or app-store commissions where applicable.

The split will be identical on both channels.

Two channels

Advertising

Computed per impression, and only on story-attributable surfaces
the in-reader interstitial, audio pre-rolls, the story-detail banner and
the chapter-end banner. Advertising on the home page or in search
results will not credit any author.

Premium reading time

Computed per Premium subscriber per billing period. That subscriber's
pool will be split across the authors they read:

Author share = 80 % × (your minutes / total minutes)
             + 20 % × (your completions / total completions)

So time spent on your stories will be the dominant signal, with a bonus
for readers who finish — which recognises authors of shorter forms.

Payouts

When payouts begin they are planned to run monthly, in euros,
with a minimum balance below which the amount rolls forward rather
than being paid out, and with the payout fee borne by the platform so
you receive the full 55 %. The exact cycle, threshold and payment
methods will be confirmed on /legal/revenue-share
before the first payout — treat nothing here as a commitment to a date.

Tax

You will be responsible for declaring this income to your own tax
authority. Where reporting obligations apply — for example the German
BZSt under DAC7 / PStTG, or US information reporting — they will be met
by the platform, and you will be told what has been reported.

The policy page also covers refunds and chargebacks, opt-outs, removals
under the terms of service, fraud prevention and disputes.
