As a Premium author, you can have OutaStory narrate your stories in
your own voice — not a generic AI voice, but a personalised clone
built from a short voice sample you record yourself.
This article walks you through the recording process and explains what
happens to your sample.
What you need
- A Premium subscription (the feature is locked to Premium authors).
- A quiet room and any microphone — your phone's built-in mic works fine.
- About five minutes of reading time.
How to record your sample
- Go to Profile → Your narration voice.
- Read the consent notice and tap "I agree". You're granting
OutaStory the right to synthesise speech in your likeness for your
own stories only. - Tap "Start recording" and read the on-screen passage aloud at
your natural speaking pace. Aim for about 60 seconds of clear
speech. - Tap "Stop" when done. You can listen back and re-record as many
times as you like before you submit. - Tap "Submit sample" when you're happy with the take.
OutaStory will process your sample (usually within a few minutes) and
confirm when your voice clone is ready. Future chapters you publish will
be narrated in your voice automatically.
Your existing stories
Already-published chapters are narrated with the platform's default AI
voice and are not retroactively re-narrated. New chapters use your
voice from the moment the clone is ready.
If you publish a chapter before the clone is ready, it will be queued and
narrated in your voice once processing completes — you don't need to do
anything extra.
Privacy and data
Your voice sample is used exclusively to create your personal narration
model. It is stored securely and is not shared with third parties or used
to train general-purpose models. You can withdraw consent and delete your
voice data at any time from Profile → Your narration voice → Remove my
voice.

Tips for a good recording
- Find a quiet spot. Background noise — fans, traffic, music — reduces
clone quality. - Speak normally. Don't over-enunciate or slow down; the model works
best when it captures your natural rhythm. - Stay consistent. Keep the same distance from the mic throughout the
passage. - Read with expression. The clone picks up your natural cadence, so
a monotone sample leads to a flat narration.
