There is one rule that surprises almost everybody, so it goes first:
you manage a subscription wherever you bought it, not wherever you
happen to be signed in today.
Premium itself follows your account across every device. The
contract does not — it stays with whoever took your money.
Where to go
- Bought on the web, in the Windows app, or in the Uptodown Android
build — manage it at/subscription. Cancelling,
payment details and receipts all live there. - Bought in the Google Play version of the Android app — manage it
in the Play Store's subscriptions screen. OutaStory cannot
cancel it for you, and it will not appear as cancellable on our
subscription page. - Bought in the iPhone, iPad or macOS app — manage it in your
App Store account settings, in the subscriptions section.
If you are not sure which one applies, think back to where you
confirmed the purchase. That is the place.
Cancelling
Cancelling stops the renewal. It does not cut Premium off on the
spot: you keep everything Premium gives you until the end of the
period you have already paid for, and after that the entitlement
simply switches off.
Nothing else happens at that moment. You are not signed out, your
account is untouched, and nothing you have written is deleted.
Payment details, invoices and receipts
These live with whoever took the payment, for the same reason as
cancellation. Changing a card, downloading an invoice or finding a
receipt happens on the subscription page for a web, Windows or
Uptodown purchase, and in the store account for a Play or App Store
purchase. We cannot re-issue a receipt for a payment that never went
through us.
What changes when Premium ends
Your account keeps working. Your stories, drafts, favourites,
comments and reading positions all stay exactly as they are. What
stops is the Premium-only behaviour:
- Offline downloads stop being available to make, and an existing
offline library stops being confirmed. See
Reading offline. - The OutaStory mark on your covers comes back. This is the one
that catches authors out. Premium is re-checked when a cover is
baked, so if your subscription has lapsed and you save a cover again
or restore an older version, the mark is stamped on. See
Cover limits, versions and the OutaStory mark. - Ad-free reading and Read along in the audio player end.
Nothing is deleted, and re-subscribing later brings the entitlement —
and everything that depends on it — straight back.
