You can have a story narrated by a human professional instead of — or
alongside — a synthetic voice. Their recording then plays on the story
just like any other audio.
The speaker marketplace
Browse available narrators at /speakers. Each speaker has
a profile and voice samples, so you can find one whose style fits your
story.
Don't confuse this with /voices/marketplace,
which is a different feature entirely: that one is for shared voice
clones between authors, paid in credits. /speakers is where you hire
a person.
How it works
- Make an offer — pick a speaker and send them an offer for your
story. - Escrow — once you both agree, your payment is held in escrow. The
speaker knows the work is funded, and your money isn't released until
they deliver. - Delivery — the speaker records and delivers the narration. When
you approve it, the payment is released. If you neither approve nor
raise a problem, the payment auto-releases after seven days, so a
speaker is never left waiting indefinitely.
Offers are settled in euros. OutaStory takes an 8 % platform fee on
the transaction; the rest goes to the speaker.
Becoming a speaker yourself
Speakers join by invitation only. There is no application form and no
self-registration — an OutaStory administrator invites you, and you
accept by email. See
Your speaker invitation.
After delivery
The finished narration is attached to your story and plays for your
readers as its audio. Synthetic narration stays available too — the
professional recording is an addition, not a replacement.
