Über diese Geschichte
Captain Alvar Solis runs a modest charter out of Papeete, taking divers and film crews into the Tuamotus on a boat he has paid for twice over. Then Ridley Manning arrives with a 1790s Spanish hydrographic chart, a London auction receipt, and a name no modern atlas carries: Isla Verde. Against his better judgement, Alvar agrees to a four-week voyage — on the condition that Eloa Tehu, a Marquesan marine biologist with wayfinding in her family line, crew the boat on her terms. What they find in the outer atolls is not a treasure, and not a legend, but something older and more awkward: a place that remembers Spain, a village that remembers the place, and a decision no chart can be trusted to record. A patient, ocean-literate novel about weather windows, competence, and the things we choose not to write down.
