About this Story
A child says good night to every soft thing in the room — the rabbit, the blanket, the slipper, the stuffed elephant — and then to themselves. A naming-game lullaby.
One By One
Goodnight, soft rabbit.
Goodnight, soft blanket.
Goodnight, soft slipper. Goodnight, other soft slipper.
Goodnight, soft elephant. Goodnight, soft elephant's soft tail.
Goodnight, soft pillow. Goodnight, the moon outside the soft, soft curtain.
Goodnight, soft hand. Goodnight, soft cheek. Goodnight, soft, soft, soft.
Goodnight, you.
