About this Story

Die Novelle folgt Hildegard Börmer, einer Internatsschülerin, ihrer Freundschaft zu Isa von Barnbiel und einer bevorstehenden Verlobung; sie zeichnet ihre stille Melancholie und das Alltagsleben im Pensionat nach. Später verknüpfen sich private Schicksale mit einem Gerichtsfall und einer Villa, die »Das stille Haus« genannt wird.
