Rudolph Stratz überarbeitete 1914 ein früheres Werk vor dem Hintergrund wieder erwachter nationaler Stimmung; zentrale Motive sind Liebe zum Vaterland und der Gedanke, es notfalls zu verteidigen. Der Auszug zeigt eine Heimkehrsszene vor dem Bismarck-Denkmal in Hamburg.
