OutaStory and AI

Angela Merkel, during her time as Chancellor of Germany, is often quoted as saying: "The internet is here to stay."

Applied to today, the sentence must read: "AI is here to stay."

Following the recent release of new generations of AI systems, public reactions have been intense. From "the bots are taking over, they're getting better and better" to "many people will lose their jobs" and even "now I can finish in minutes or days what used to take me days or months."

These reactions show just how much uncertainty surrounds the rapid development of AI systems — even among those who understand the technology well.

But one thing is clear: AI is reality, and it is already dramatically changing our world.

Is AI a curse or a blessing?

It is both.

At OutaStory, we take a clear position on AI:

The creative work of a human being must not be replaced by the output of a machine. We want real people writing real stories for real people. Empathy, emotions, and human behavior can only truly be expressed by humans — even if machines are increasingly trained to imitate them. Machines remain machines. In our community of writers and members, real people should communicate with each other — not bots. We do not want real humans to become secondary characters in communication.

Real people matter to us.

From a practical perspective, AI systems are powerful tools that help structure longer, more difficult, or complex tasks efficiently. They can help us work in a more focused and effective way. However, even as developers reduce so-called "hallucinations" (the invention of seemingly factual but incorrect information), a human must always make the final decision about a text, a solution, or a recommendation.

At OutaStory, we use AI systems where they help us create the right environment for stories to thrive. For example, when stories are read aloud, this is currently only possible through machine-based systems for cost reasons. AI gives us time — time to focus on our writers and members. Because you, our writers and members, are at the center of everything we do.

We want to be partners to real people — not creators of a machine-driven communication world. AI should help us become faster and better. It will not dominate us; it should serve us.

Therefore: write your stories without AI — for real people who read and listen to them.
