The script arrived in Nora Chen's inbox at 3:47 AM, from an email address that, when she later tried to trace it, turned out not to exist. It was formatted exactly like a production script for her show — correct font, correct margins, correct slug lines, even the correct watermark that only the writing staff had access to. It was labeled Season 4, Episode 13. Her show only had twelve episodes per season. Nora read it at her kitchen table with a mug of cold coffee, expecting a prank. The writing was extraordinary — better than anything her staff had produced, better than anything she had written herself, which was a realization that stung in a way she did not have time to examine.
