Two Kinds Of Tower
Mira and I were building.
Mira's tower was very, very tall. Mine was small.
I looked at her tower. I looked at mine.
I felt small. I did not say I felt small. I just stopped putting bricks on.
Mira looked over.
"Why did you stop?"
"Yours is better."
She thought about it. She does that. She thinks first.
"Mine is taller," she said. "Yours has windows. Mine doesn't have any windows. Is anyone living in mine?"
I looked. There was nobody living in her tower. It was just bricks.
"In mine," I said, "there are seven mice and one hedgehog."
"Where do they sleep?"
"In the bottom one. The top one is for parties."
"Can my tower be the lighthouse?" said Mira. "Then it doesn't need windows. It just needs to be tall."
"Yes," I said.
We made a bridge between them. The mice could go to the lighthouse. We could too.
